Abstract
A homogenous infinite isotropic elastic wedge under anti-plane deformation, is investigated in this paper, for fracture analysis. The infinite mellin transform is used to formulate the problem. A closed form solution for displacement, for each of the two cases of boundary conditions studied, is obtained. From these solutions, the geometric strength of stress singularities for some configurations of the material, and their corresponding stress intensity factors are analyzed. The stress intensity factor for the cases, when the Tada et al method is applicable is shown to be in agreement with the Shahani method (which is more in general). It was observed that similar configurations respond differently under different load conditions.
