Abstract

Monitoring pesticide residues in milk products is vital for maintaining food safety and protecting consumer health. Due to the complex composition of milk, which contains fats, proteins, and other components, it demands precise sample preparation alongside highly sensitive and accurate analytical techniques to detect pesticide residues at very low concentrations. Techniques such as GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS are widely recognized as the most effective for their high sensitivity, specificity, and capability to analyze multiple pesticide residues simultaneously. Additionally, screening methods like ELISA and HPTLC offer quick and economical options for routine monitoring. Ensuring the reliability of results depends heavily on rigorous quality control and comprehensive method validation. Key factors include verifying the method’s selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision, and sensitivity while addressing potential matrix interferences and confirming the robustness of the procedure. Ongoing monitoring is essential given the health risks associated with long-term exposure to pesticides, such as hormonal imbalances, neurological effects, and cancer risks. Strict adherence to regulatory guidelines, combined with best practices in farming and animal care, helps minimize the presence of these contaminants. In summary, thorough pesticide residue analysis in milk is crucial for consumer protection, regulatory adherence, and sustaining the safety and quality of the dairy industry.
