Progress Theories and Limitation of Free Energy Generator as a Sustainable Energy Source: A Review

Abstract
The campaign for alternative to clean energy has been rekindled as climate change realities are evidently impacting upon renewable energies. A potential alternative clean energy is the flywheel energy generator that works on electromagnetic principles. Its prospects are huge because it has the market viability to replace fossil fuel generators. The drawbacks of the flywheel energy generator are energy losses due to self-discharge, operational abnormalities, high conversion losses, scalability issues, theoretical misconceptions, and fossil-fuel politics. Despite its discovery in nearly two decades, not much progress has been reported. The focus of this review is to identify the current realities of flywheel generator and also, address the most issues identified from literatures. It was observed that only few flywheels flywheel (free) energy generators attain a voltage of 200 V. Most devices in literature reported voltage less than 20V. The shortcoming of selected designs was discussed to guide future work. It is recommended that further research work should focus more on the scalability issues to enable the device to dominate the energy generator market.
