Abstract
This study examined the relationship between nurses’ workload, job satisfaction, and the efficiency of patient care management in SDN Provincial Hospital. The research focused on assessing the level of workload and job satisfaction among nurses, evaluating the effectiveness of patient care management across four dimensions—patient assessment, care planning, patient education, and monitoring and follow-up—and identifying the extent to which workload and job satisfaction predict the quality of care.
A descriptive-correlational design was employed using survey questionnaires administered to nurses in the hospital. Descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation), Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were utilized in analyzing the data.
Results revealed that nurses experienced a moderate level of workload and job satisfaction. The highest satisfaction was reported in organizational culture, while the lowest was in professional development. Patient care management was rated highly efficient, particularly in monitoring and follow-up. A significant negative correlation was found between workload and patient care efficiency. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis indicated that both workload and job satisfaction were significant predictors of patient care management, explaining 46% of its variance.
The study concludes that managing workload and enhancing job satisfaction can significantly improve the efficiency and quality of nursing care. It recommends the implementation of supportive staffing policies, professional development programs, and a culture of recognition to sustain high standards in patient care.
