Abstract

Crime management and record maintenance are essential responsibilities of law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety and effective criminal investigations. Traditional crime record management systems primarily rely on paper-based documentation and manual record keeping, which often lead to inefficiencies, delays, data redundancy, and difficulties in retrieving information. As the volume of crime-related data continues to increase, the need for a secure, centralized, and automated system has become increasingly important.

This research paper presents the design and implementation of a Web-Based Crime Record Management System developed using modern web technologies. The proposed system provides a centralized platform for managing criminal records, First Information Reports (FIRs), police station information, user complaints, and investigation-related data. The system is designed to improve operational efficiency by digitizing the record management process and reducing the dependency on manual documentation.

The application incorporates role-based access control, allowing administrators, police officers, and registered users to perform authorized operations securely. Administrators can manage system records and users, police personnel can update crime-related information and monitor investigations, while citizens can register complaints and access relevant services through the platform. The system utilizes a structured database architecture to ensure secure storage, efficient retrieval, and proper maintenance of crime-related information.

The proposed solution offers several advantages, including improved data accuracy, reduced paperwork, faster information retrieval, enhanced security, and better coordination among police departments. Furthermore, the system supports report generation and crime monitoring capabilities, enabling authorities to make informed decisions based on accurate and up-to-date information.

The implementation and testing results demonstrate that the developed system successfully addresses the limitations of traditional crime management methods. The Web-Based Crime Record Management System provides a scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solution that contributes to the modernization of law enforcement operations and supports effective crime tracking, monitoring, and reporting.
