Abstract
Contemporary Technologies (CT) and Construction Cost Management (CCM) has been an area of focus in recent research. This study aims to conduct a review of CT & CCM with a view to revealing the area of focus of past studies. This aspect has not been given considerable attention in recent bibliometric and scientometric studies. This study, through an extensive bibliometric assessment, recognized the most active journals, most cited authors, and keywords in the studies on Contemporary Technologies and Construction Cost Management from year 2000 to 2026. Data used were gathered from the Scopus database. Keywords such as “Contemporary Technology” OR “Contemporary Technologies” OR “Emerging Technologies” OR “Technology implementation” AND “Construction Cost”. VOSviewer was used to prepare co-authorship and co-occurrence map based on the bibliographic data gathered. The findings revealed that focus is placed on digital transformation in cost management, integrated digital construction management, emerging technologies and sustainability, smart technology in construction, and emerging technologies and implementation decision making. The findings of this study are limited due to the use of a single database. Despite its limitations, the findings open a knowledge gap that can be explored in developing countries particularly in Africa to improve construction cost management in the continent through the implementation of contemporary technologies.
Keywords:
Contemporary, Technologies; Contemporary technologies; Cost; Construction; Construction cost; Cost management; Digitalisation
