A Threat to Digital India with Special Reference to Online Frauds in India

Abstract

Digitization is the main reason behind an increase in online fraud.Online fraud in India involves deceptive digital practices which are used to steal money, assets, or sensitive personal data. With the rapid expansion of UPI, adhaar, and digital banking, scammers target millions of users through phishing, fake job offers, and impersonation, leading to loss of money. This paper discuss about the different types of online frauds in India that are increasing and the causes behind various online fraud. It also gives details how to keep our money safe and remain alert from all these frauds as it is becoming an increasing threat for all especially online retailers, customers, and businesses all over India.

With the rise in online transactions, cybercriminals also have found new ways to exploit users. This paper takes an attempt in understanding Fraud Prevention Tips to overcome the various types of online frauds prevailing in India.
