Abstract

The expansion of digital financial services has significantly contributed to enhancing financial inclusion across the globe, particularly in developing economies such as India. With the rapid adoption of mobile banking, digital wallets, and online payment systems, financial services have become more accessible to previously unbanked populations. However, alongside these advancements, cybersecurity challenges have emerged as a major concern, threatening the safety and trust of users in digital financial systems.

The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the cybersecurity challenges associated with digital financial inclusion and to understand the level of awareness among users regarding digital financial security. The research aims to identify the risks faced by users and evaluate how these risks influence their trust in digital financial platforms. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical research design. Both primary and secondary data have been utilized for the purpose of the study. Primary data has been collected through a structured questionnaire distributed among users of digital financial services. Secondary data has been gathered from research articles, reports, and relevant publications. Statistical tools such as percentage analysis, mean, and graphical representation have been used to interpret the data.

The findings of the study reveal that while digital financial services have increased accessibility and convenience, users face several cybersecurity threats such as phishing attacks, OTP fraud, identity theft, and data breaches. A large number of users lack adequate knowledge about safe digital practices, making them vulnerable to cybercrimes. It is also observed that trust in digital platforms is directly influenced by users’ perception of security and past experiences with cyber threats. The study suggests that there is a need for increased awareness and education regarding cybersecurity practices. Financial institutions and policymakers should implement stronger security frameworks and promote digital literacy programs to ensure safe usage of digital financial services.

In conclusion, digital financial inclusion has the potential to transform the financial landscape, but addressing cybersecurity challenges is essential for ensuring long-term sustainability and user confidence.
