Improving the Accuracy of Target Coordinate Determination in the Tracking and Illumination Radar of Air Defense Missile Systems Using Statistical Signal Processing

Abstract

This paper investigates the statistical signal processing and estimation of target coordinates in air defense missile systems. The system operates with multiple coordinate framesand algorithms are implemented to convert data between them. A detailed description of the transformation from the Bico coordinate system to the Earth coordinate system is presented. After transformation, the target coordinates in the Earth frame are processed using a Kalman filtering algorithm that evaluates the second-order derivatives of the coordinates. The filter gains are adjusted according to the target maneuvering conditions. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed processing and filtering method significantly reduces estimation errors and ensures continuous, high-accuracy determination of target coordinates under various dynamic scenarios.
