A Smart Personal Finance Management Web Application with AI-Based Insights

Abstract

Managing personal finances effectively is a common challenge faced by individuals due to unstructured spending habits and lack of proper tracking tools. This research presents the design and development of a responsive web-based personal finance management system that enables users to manage income, expenses, budgets, subscriptions, and savings goals in an organized manner. The system provides a centralized platform where users can record financial transactions and visualize their financial status through interactive dashboards.

A key feature of the application is the integration of a rule-based artificial intelligence module that analyzes user spending behavior and generates insights, including overspending alerts and savings recommendations. Unlike traditional systems that only store financial data, the proposed application focuses on improving financial awareness by providing actionable feedback [5], [8].

The application is developed using Java and Spring Boot for backend processing, MySQL for database management, and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for frontend design. Chart.js is used to create visual dashboards that simplify financial analysis [9], [10], [11]. The results indicate that the system is efficient, user-friendly, and capable of assisting users in making better financial decisions.
