Gig Economy in India: An Analysis of Long-Term Employability Among Gig Workers in Bengaluru

Abstract

The gig economy in India has been developing rapidly over the past few years. This is largely due to sites such as Uber and Zomato. The working habits of people have evolved significantly. They enjoy greater flexibility and independence than in traditional jobs. This is a favourite flexibility with many workers. It is not known how it impacts their long-term careers.

This research is attempting to comprehend the impact of the flexibility of gig work on the future of the workers. It is considered whether this flexibility assists workers in learning new skills to adapt to changes in the job market and access better job opportunities. Is it a source of job insecurity and insufficient career development?

To tell this, the study is taking an approach. It is gathering information about gig workers in industries by use of structured questionnaires. Another aspect the study is considering is whether learning skills are a significant factor in the correlation between flexibility and employment.

The findings of this research will be helpful to individuals who develop the policy of companies operating these platforms and gig employees. It will assist them in comprehending and negotiating the evolving work world.
