The Role of Polymers and Their Development Process: A Review

Abstract

Polymers constitute one of the most important classes of materials used in modern science and technology due to their wide range of structures, properties, and applications. From simple packaging materials to advanced biomedical devices and high-performance engineering components, polymers play a crucial role in improving the quality of human life. Their unique characteristics such as flexibility, durability, chemical resistance, lightweight nature, and ease of processing make them indispensable across numerous industries. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the role of polymers in various sectors and explains the polymer development process in detail, including polymer design, synthesis techniques, modification strategies, processing methods, and characterization techniques. Recent advancements in polymer science, such as biodegradable polymers, smart polymers, and polymer nanocomposites, are also discussed.
