Abstract
This exploratory research examines how job satisfaction (JS) and nurses’ retention (NR) of those employed in the private healthcare providers in Jharkhand is influenced by the reward system (RS) at the hospital. Thus, the study aims to find out how RS influences NR; explore the relationship between RS and JS; identify how JS and NR are related with each other; and offer practical policy advice to the policymakers for retaining the nursing staff for longer time. The study sample consisted of 180 nurses. The sampling techniques adopted for the study were random sampling techniques. The survey was done through self-administered questionnaires. The data so collected was passed through factor analysis, using IBM SPSS 20 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The hypothesis put forward in this study is that higher the rewards (Independent Variable), higher the job satisfaction will be (Dependent Variable), and hence, higher the retention (Dependent Variable) of nursing staff. Findings suggested that RS does affect NR. However, RS might not always lead to improvement in JS.
