Hobo’s Twin Tables Techniques & Twin-Stage Procedure- An Applicative Review
B. Lakshmana Rao1*
Abstract
The Twin Tables technique and Twin-Stage procedure, developed by Sumiya Hobo and Hisao Takayama, are prosthodontic methods for full mouth rehabilitation, aiming to restore occlusal harmony through precise anterior guidance and posterior disocclusion. While both achieve mutually protected occlusion, they differ in approach, complexity, and applicability, particularly in modern digital workflows. The Twin Tables technique uses two incisal tables: the first for posterior restorations without anterior guidance, and the second to incorporate anterior guidance, relying on condylar path and anterior guidance interplay. Whereas the Twin-Stage procedure simplifies this by using a single incisal table adjusted for two conditions: posterior restorations with a standard cusp angle (25° sagittal protrusive) and anterior restorations with guidance. Its focus on cusp angle, supported by Fuzzy Logic and Neural Networks, enhances precision.
