Abstract

Medicinal herbs have shown significant potential as natural approaches for managing diabetes due to their diverse mechanisms, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, blood sugar-lowering, and insulin-sensitizing effects. Research indicates that bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and phenolic acids can help regulate glucose levels, support pancreatic β-cell function, and reduce diabetes-related complications. However, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of these herbal treatments requires proper standardization, appropriate dosing, and well-designed clinical studies. Combining medicinal herbs with conventional therapies may provide a comprehensive and cost-effective strategy for diabetes management, ultimately enhancing patient health and quality of life.
