Sustainability in Crisis: Evaluating Global Responses to Environmental Issues

Abstract

This study examines the escalating global sustainability crisis, focusing on environmental degradation, climate change, and resource depletion, and evaluates the effectiveness of international responses. Drawing from key frameworks such as the Paris Agreement, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Planetary Boundaries framework, the paper highlights the urgent need for transformative action that integrates policy, technology, and education. Despite global commitments, implementation remains uneven, hindered by financial, political, and institutional challenges. The research emphasizes the pivotal role of education and public awareness in shaping sustainable behavior and advancing environmental literacy. By fostering collaboration between governments, academia, industry, and communities, societies can bridge the gap between global sustainability goals and local realities. The paper concludes that sustainability is not solely a scientific or economic pursuit but a moral and civic responsibility essential to ensuring ecological balance, social equity, and long-term planetary resilience.
