Abstract
Overpopulation is a catastrophic global challenge that significantly impacts the environment, leading to resource depletion, contamination, deforestation, and climate change. The exponential growth of the human population and the rising demands for food, water, energy, and land greatly strain natural ecosystems. This article investigates the link between overpopulation and environmental deterioration by examining major issues such as loss of biodiversity, water shortages, and greenhouse gas emissions. The article emphasizes the important part of sustainable development—policy changes and technical developments— in reducing the negative effects of population growth on the environment. Balancing human demands with environmental preservation calls for a multidisciplinary strategy including government rules, public awareness, and scientific discoveries. Through sustainable resource management, family planning, and education that addresses population growth, society can strive for a more harmonious coexistence with the natural world. This study underscores the urgent need to adopt proactive approaches that ensure environmental sustainability and enhance the quality of life for future generations.
